Episode I of LIFE in PRISON!
Sometimes ago, two non-Muslim friends came to introduce Multi-level business to me. They spoke passionately to make me realise the importance of making money from it. They cited cases of those who have made a huge... from it. I asked about the content; they said it is HALAL-certified. 'Okay, how do we do the business?' They responded, 'Just register one person and see how your bank account grows beyond imagination'.
I expressed my doubt on a religious ground but they insisted I should attend their eye-opening programme the following day somewhere in Ibadan. I decided to raise the matter in the mosque after fajri prayer for scholarly opinions. My opinion not to attend was corroborated.
I was bemused...not knowing how to explain to them as respected friends! But alwalaa wal baraa-'loving and hating for Allah alone' is important here. At last, I picked their call and uttered: "You know, as a Muslim, I am in PRISON! My freedom is confined within the ambit of Islam. Profit-oriented human networking is defined as HARAM in Islam just as you hardly find Muslims in the bank."
TRAITS OF EVERY GOOD MUSLIM
I do not shake opposite sex not because I am not aware it is a mark of modern-day civilisation but it is defined as haram in the Islamic dictionary!
I do not participate in 'who wants to be a millionaire' not because of my lack of general knowledge or the gist of current affairs but it is modern-day gambling!
I do not borrow credit from the telecommunications industry not because there is no need for it but it involves interest!
I do not use a product that advertises alcohol-shirt, cap, key holder et cetera even when it is given to me as a gift!
Funnily enough, I am in prison as you can see but I don't want to be freed! No freedom until paradise where there will be no SADNESS but HAPPINESS with wonderful things no eye ever peeked, no ear ever hearkened.
I will save my FREEDOM till PARADISE; what about you?
